How to create a polished weekend ensemble - with a lightweight blazer

For the fashionably well-read gentleman, his weekend wear is likely to be equally important to his working wardrobe. The question is how to pull off a smart weekend look in Singapore's climate. It's the perennial dilemma: how to channel your inner Sean Connery (via linen suit in the 1971 Bond movie 'Diamonds are Forever') without dissolving in perspiration.

If you've been invited to a sunny weekend on a yacht, the last thing you want to be wearing is polyester. In property there is location, location, location. In fashion, it's fabric. Breathable materials like linen or cotton mixes are tropical friendly and keep you cool. Be sure your blazer is unlined cotton, linen or wool (for colder temperates). It should feel as if you're wearing a lightweight shirt. This blazer should not only be sans lining, it should also have no interfacing (the fabric between your jacket and the lining) or shoulder pads.

Some things to consider with a lightweight blazer is its tendency to wrinkle easily. Current menswear sensation, Italian brand Boglioli (available on mrporter.com), famous for its relaxed silhouettes (natural shoulders with an unlined and unconstructed body), put emphasis on their warm-weather cotton fabric. While it may still show some signs of wrinkling, the woven cotton textile looks visibly less crumpled compared to other brands. To further highlight Boglioli's dressed down appeal, the brand is also well known for its "washed look" - a term that gives a piece of clothing a cool, worn-in effect.
