Tag Heuer and Bvlgari push new frontiers at Geneva Watch Days 2025
Tag’s Carrera Astronomer and Bvlgari’s first-ever bronze Aluminium models are two bold reinterpretations of watchmaking heritage spotlighted at this year’s Geneva Watch Days exhibition
Tag Heuer Carrera Astronomer
AFTER conquering the racetracks and the sea, the Tag Heuer Carrera collection is now shooting for the stars with the Astronomer.
Introduced at Geneva Watch Days, the line builds upon the brand’s historical connection to space, notably with American astronaut John Glenn wearing a modified 2915A Heuer stopwatch in orbit in 1962.
At its core, the watches represent a new lunar interpretation in modern watchmaking, focusing on an avant-garde moonphase complication that prioritises clarity, precision and cosmic rhythms.
The Carrera Astronomer comes in three models, each 39 mm in case size and offering 100 metres of water resistance. The standard is stainless steel with a silver dial and black accents, while two limited editions – steel with turquoise accents and a two-tone rose gold accented version – have production runs of 500 individually numbered pieces each. All the watches feature an astronomical observatory – a tribute to the timepiece’s cosmic inspiration – engraved on the casebacks.
Beating inside the timepieces is the new Calibre 7 mechanical movement with a 50-hour power reserve. It powers a unique moonphase display at 6 o’clock, where a rotating disc presents seven illustrated moon stages. This lunar disc advances daily at 1 am, synchronising with real-world moon movement, and departs from traditional abstract displays by embracing scientific precision in its functional and avant-garde design.
Bvlgari Bronzo
A new chapter for the Bvlgari Aluminium has been written with its first-ever use of bronze in the collection. This metal is known for developing a unique patina over time, and Jonathan Brinbaum, managing director of Bvlgari Watches says its raw, masculine and elegant appearance is set to add to the line’s iconic aura.
Inspired by the 1975 Bvlgari Bvlgari, the Bvlgari Aluminium collection is already known for its daring combination of materials like aluminium and rubber. The new Bronzo continues in the same vein as it redefines luxury codes, and the result is a watch with instantly recognisable silhouette and bold contrasts.
Two versions are available: the Bvlgari Bronzo GMT and the Bvlgari Bronzo Chronograph. The 40 mm GMT model features a sandblasted bronze case, black rubber bezel, black dial with rose gold-plated hands, and a 24-hour GMT disc, powered by the automatic calibre B192 with a 50-hour power reserve.
The 41 mm Chronograph – also with a sandblasted bronze case and black rubber bezel – has a matte black dial with azure counters, a tachymeter scale, rose gold hands, and an automatic calibre B381 with a 42-hour power reserve.
