Top designs in Red Dot Award
FOR the past two decades, the prestigious Red Dot Award: Design Concept has been honouring the best in design excellence with annual Best of the Best works, culminating in its highest recognition, the Red Dot: Luminary.
In addition to the award celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Red Dot: Next Gen Award makes its debut, specifically for projects by young designers under the age of 30. This new category ensures a more precise evaluation of their work, considering the different circumstances of young designers versus professional teams. In Friday’s edition of BT Lifestyle, we highlight a few of our favourite designs – some of which are ready for the market.
In Books, we’ve noticed how, in the past few years, several novels have cleverly explored the gulf between the haves and have-nots, and the psychological impact that wealth (or the lack of it) has on their characters. We review some of the latest bestsellers including Entitlement by Rumaan Alam, The Guest by Emma Cline, and Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid.
In Arts, we return to the School of Tomorrow, where visitors of all ages can enter a dynamically designed school that teaches them some urgent lessons about sustainability and climate change, and help them conceive a greener, cleaner future. The exhibition is curated by Kinetic Singapore at New Bahru.
And in Dining, who’s up for croque prata? Namely a croque monsieur-prata hybrid that sums up the French-Asian thinking behind the new Les Ducs by ex-Ducasse chef Louis Pacquelin. Misguided fusion or inventive French flair? Find out more in Friday’s edition of BT.
