Tots continue mission of raising money for senior citizens in need

THE pre-school Kinderland has raised over S$12,000 this year for the Lions Befrienders. More than 2,000 of its pupils aged two to six sold hand-made items such as cookies, customised clocks and tote bags at open-to-public carnivals.

Since 2018, Kinderland has taken part in the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) "Start Small Dream Big" drive, a President's Challenge initiative, to raise funds for the Lions Befrienders, a social agency proviing friendship and care to seniors still living in their communities.

In total, Kinderland has raised more than S$30,000 for the agency. The funds went into activities, meals and excursions for the elderly.

Carol Loy, curriculum and professional development director of Kinderland Educare Services, said: "Beyond academic qualifications, we recognise the importance of cultivating character and values in our pre-schoolers. Our participation in the 'Start Small Dream Big' initiative was an opportunity to inspire our young ones to contribute to a culture of kindness and inclusivity, and to hone their entrepreneurial spirit and skills."

Kinderland will once more take part in the ECDA initiative this year.
