UBS launches inaugural Art for All community programme
More than 80 students and the bank’s staff volunteers have started on a 60 m-long woven tapestry to mark Singapore’s 60th anniversary next year
UBS has launched a new year-long Art for All community programme with a 60-metre-long woven tapestry to commemorate SG60 – Singapore’s 60th anniversary – in 2025.
The tapestry, to be displayed at the UBS Art Studio when complete, is being made by more than 80 Care Corner students and the bank’s staff volunteers. From Jan 17 to 19 next year, the weaving will also be open for public participation during the Art SG fair.
As the founding and lead partner of Art SG, UBS is bringing this international art fair to Singapore for the third consecutive year.
In a press statement, UBS said that it wants to make art “accessible to all” by fostering sustainable practices and enriching the local community through the “transformative power” of art.
The bank added that Art for All, which began in October this year, is a platform to engage clients, UBS employees, community partners and the public.
As part of the campaign, UBS is also working with local charity partner Art Outreach to offer art and educational workshops for community beneficiaries over the course of the year.
These sessions will focus on themes related to art and sustainability, where participants will take part in art workshops, attend talks with the bank’s art experts, and experience guided tours of the UBS Art Collection that is on display at UBS’ office in Penang Road.
“We are delighted to provide this important platform to reinforce Singapore’s rising role in engaging art enthusiasts, collectors and the public across the region,” said Young Jin Yee, co-head of UBS global wealth management Asia-Pacific and country head, UBS Singapore.
“UBS has a history of supporting contemporary art and artists, and has one of the most important corporate collections of contemporary art in the world,” she added.
