UBS Singapore has set a new record in the Singapore Book of Records with a 60-meter-long tapestry that was woven together by the bank’s employees and various community partners.

The tapestry was done to commemorate Singapore’s 60 years of independence this year. It went on public display alongside an interactive sustainable weaving activity at the UBS Art Studio during last weekend’s ART SG event at Marina Bay Sands.

UBS Singapore is the founding and lead partner of ART SG for the third consecutive year.

The tapestry was made up of over 35 kg of textiles from a donation drive held by UBS employees in Singapore, which collected over 400 kg of fabrics. The excess fabric was donated and recycled.

Jin Yee Young, the co-head of UBS Global Wealth Management Asia-Pacific and UBS Singapore country head, said the tapestry “embodies the spirit” of building Singapore together for SG60.

“This record-setting tapestry also launches our ‘Art for All’ community art programme, a year-long initiative that aims to make art accessible to everyone while fostering dialogue and creativity,” she said.

With the ART SG fair over, the tapestry will now be housed at UBS Singapore’s office at 9 Penang Road.
