UOL, Pan Pacific Hotels Group partner ComLink to support children living in rental housing
UOL Group and its hotel subsidiary Pan Pacific Hotels Group (PPHG) launched the UOL-PPHG Uplift Programme on Saturday (Jan 28), in collaboration with the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF).
The programme supports children living in rental housing by providing learning opportunities such as arts and crafts classes and rock-climbing. It is part of Community Link’s (ComLink) efforts to help these children and their families achieve stability, self-reliance and social mobility, according to UOL and PPHG.
There are plans to roll out more enrichment activities over the next three years. These aim to promote learning outside the classroom and help the children become more well-rounded.
Liam Wee Sin, group chief executive of UOL, said the programme’s purpose is to “help children in rental flats to do better in school and in life”. He added that it encourages “improving academic outcomes” for the children, as well as family bonding.
The various activities are co-hosted by UOL and PPHG at their properties. Employees from the two groups also volunteer to participate in the programme with the children and their families.
UOL will contribute about S$150,000 towards the programme over the next three years, and encourage its retail tenants to provide activities for the children.

Wee Wei Ling, PPHG executive director of sustainable partnerships, said: “By launching this collaboration in partnership with MSF and our partners, we hope our collective effort will be able to bring about a bigger impact in meeting the needs of children living in rental housing, and to build their confidence and resilience.”
ComLink is a network under MSF that focuses on helping such children.
“ComLink seeks to better support families through a more proactive, family-centric and data-driven approach,” said Desmond Lee, Minister for National Development and Minister-in-charge of Social Services Integration.
The minister was the guest of honour at the programme’s launch event, which took place at ParkRoyal on Beach Road on Saturday, where 200 attendees engaged in activities throughout the day.
