US$50 million Singapore rug market draws Indian household name and Australian collab with local designers
Both have recently set up shop in Amoy Street, home to several interior design firms
ONE hails from India and ranks among the largest producers of handmade rugs in the country; the other is an Australian company whose rugs feature in commercial and residential spaces in Singapore.
This month, both opened new showrooms just a stone’s throw away from each other on Amoy Street. The prize? The local rug market worth US$50 million, as estimated by newcomer Jaipur Rugs, in its current financial year ending March 2025.
And then, of course, there are also opportunities that come with being close to neighbouring countries.
