Wanderlust stoked: Travellers locking in dates

IT'S been said before, but of late it's being said again, and slightly more loudly: We will travel again. With talk of vaccine passports and travel bubbles, confidence is growing that some form of travel will take off in the second half of the year, although it will be far from the halcyon days of before.

In tomorrow's BTLifestyle, we talk to travel experts and operators for their assessment of the situation. While caution still reigns, some high-end operators are already seeing a rise in interest for peak travel periods as travellers try to lock in their preferred dates. Japan appears to be the top destination of choice, but travellers are generally looking to spend more time in one country, with bucket-list trips and simple, nature-driven holidays shaping up to be the next travel trend.

Moving to the arts scene, we take a look at the work of Chloe Zhao, the China-born film-maker who is in the news as the director of the Oscar-nominated Nomadland and also as an Asian auteur. We also rediscover the work of famed glass artist Dale Chihuly, who is set to make his Asian debut in Singapore.
