The age of success
WHEN actress Michelle Yeoh uttered the now-classic line, “Ladies, don’t let anyone tell you you’re past your prime!” at the Oscars this year, she put in words what many past the age of 21 thought, but never dared to voice out – that relevance doesn’t have an age limit.
In Friday’s (Jul 14) edition of BTLuxe – the Summer Issue – we celebrate ageless reinvention, featuring personalities who have evolved and flourished at whatever age they are. Our star personality is Malaysian actress Yeo Yann Yann, Yeoh’s co-star in the hot American comedy American Born Chinese, which also marks her Hollywood debut. She talks candidly to us about ageism, depression and what her definition of success is.
We also meet Anurag Srivastava, a 56-year-old venture capitalist who’s one of the most respected voices in the community. He talks about his journey from the impoverished state of Uttar Pradesh to his string of successful ventures in everything from animation to tech and philanthropy. And proving you can look good at any age is skin doctor SK Tan, founder of one of the earliest aesthetics clinics in Singapore.
Speaking of looking good, the preternaturally youthful socialite-turned-content-creator Jamie Chua personifies reinvention, as she shares her lifestyle with over one million Instagram followers. In this issue, she lets us into her new home at Sentosa Cove, which oozes with her own style and fashion sense.
Elsewhere in the issue, we spotlight Haute Stones – our debut jewellery supplement about the latest high jewellery trends and gems to covet. For those with wanderlust, sit back and travel vicariously through Africa, Australia and Japan while seeking out unforgettable meals in restaurants at remote corners of the world.
Don’t miss our ultra-special issue of BTLuxe Summer, free with Friday’s issue of The Business Times.
