Dive into the festive season with Tudor
For the sea-loving enthusiast, the Black Bay Range makes the perfect gift. By Chuang Peck Ming
TUDOR IS THE UNDISPUTED GO-TO name for divers’ watches, with a long tradition of “tool” timepieces that also score high on looks. Its Black Bay collection is forward-thinking in technology, yet remains faithful to a heritage that dates back to the 1950s with the first divers’ watches. With a sophisticated combination of ruggedness and sartorial style, this Tudor is the epitome of cool.
Precious Mettle
The Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925 unveils two firsts for a Tudor divers’ watch: a silver case and an open case back with sapphire crystal. The “925” refers to the precious metal of the case, which is entirely satin-finished for a matt effect, yet gives off an unexpected glow that’s best admired on the wrist. The watch’s name also alludes to the year 1958, when the first Tudor divers’ watch made its debut. In keeping with the characteristic proportions of the 1950s, the case of the Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925 – also waterproof to 200 metres – is kept at 39 mm as well. The open case provides a view of the COSC-certified automatic movement that powers the watch. The movement is fitted with a non-magnetic silicon hairspring and has a power reserve of 70 hours.

Bronze Delight
Go copper-toned all the way with Tudor’s Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze – the first Tudor watch made entirely of the metal from the case to the bracelet. Even the dial and bezel of the watch – which can be traced back to Tudor’s first divers’ watches from the 1950s – display a new colour palette based on rich bronze-brown tones. Thanks to the alloy’s characteristic ageing, the Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze will eventually acquire a subtle and unique patina for timeless appeal. Along with an uncompromising design, the watch is powered by an automatic in-house movement certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) for high technical performance. Waterproof to 200 metres, the Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze is available only in Tudor boutiques.

When you want a diving watch that scores high on technology as well as looks, the Black Bay Ceramic is at the top of its class. It’s a one-stop showcase of Tudor’s exacting standards of watchmaking. It’s very precise, resistant to magnetic fields, waterproof and has 70 hours of power reserve – all vouched for by a METAS Master Chronometer certification. The tech-forward tool-watch is encased in a 41 mm matt black ceramic case for a cool, sharp look. Yet, for all its modernity, the Black Bay Ceramic retains features like its “Snowflake” hands – a perfect blend of classic design and contemporary watchmaking. The watch is waterproof to a depth of 200 metres.
