Singapore has nominated hawker culture for the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. In support of this, National Geographic is partnering the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) to present the #OurHawkerCulture movement, which aside from showcasing a video vignette series about hawker centres - invites food fans to take part in a photography contest with prizes.

So declare your love for hawker culture and be rewarded. Until Jan 12, Singapore residents can post their perspectives on hawker culture on Instagram with the hashtag #OurHawkerCulture. Entries will be judged by a panel comprising National Geographic chef and host David Rocco, food guru and Chief Executive of Makansutra KF Seetoh, and representatives from MCI, with winning entries displayed in a roving photo exhibition from early 2019.
