METAL-strapped watches, already outselling the leather alternatives, are winning even more fans as the pandemic sweeps away many formalities at work and play, quickening the shift to a more casual lifestyle.
The upsurge in popularity of the more rugged and informal timepieces, which are more suitable for casual wear, has not escaped the notice of luxury watch brands - notably brands that specialise on leather-strapped dress watches and are the target of the animal protection lobby.
