Mad about pots: The clay comeback
WITH social lives and general activity curtailed because of the pandemic, people have been discovering new hobbies to keep themselves occupied. One of them is pottery, a long underappreciated art which has seen a recent surge in interest. With Singaporeans unable to travel, they signed up for pottery classes in droves, with studios struggling to manage the doubling of their student numbers even as class sizes had to be reduced because of government restrictions.
In tomorrow's BTLifestyle, we look at how clay is making a comeback, so much so that it's even spawned Singapore's first pottery festival, which will have plenty to interest people who are mad about pots.
Speaking of relaxing activity, we visit a landed home that is nowhere near the beach, but you would easily mistake it as a tropical resort with its vast open spaces, greenery and extensive use of wood. And in Dining, we head out to Portsdown Road to see how the new Magic Square has evolved to showcase the work of young Singaporean chefs.
