Four new Small Seconds timepieces enrich Reverso Tribute collection
Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrates an exuberant tradition with three ultra-thin pink-gold models and one in steel
FROM super-complications that astound, to metiers d’art masterpieces that beguile, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s emblematic Reverso has always been the playground in which the manufacturer flexes its horological muscles.
This, perhaps, explains just how the timepiece has managed to transcend the polo fields, where its purpose originated, to stand as an emblem of elegance and distinction. With its swivel case offering two ways to wear it (it is the only watch that can be flipped over while still being worn on the wrist), there is arguably no other timepiece that offers as much timeless versatility.
Even more so now that Jaeger-LeCoultre has enriched its Reverso Tribute selection with three new small seconds references in pink-gold and one in steel.
The Reverso Tribute was launched in 2011 on the 80th anniversary of the Reverso. And, as its name suggests, the sub-collection pays homage to the first generation of the 1930s, which daringly showcased coloured dials in an age when white and silver reigned supreme. Rich chocolate brown, lush burgundy and serene blue all made their appearances within the timepiece’s minimalist case.
Jaeger-Coultre’s newest Reverso watches continue that exuberant tradition with an ultra-thin pink-gold case, no less. The Reverso Tribute Small Seconds pink-gold timepieces for 2023 bear a new 7.56 mm profile for heightened elegance. That is almost 1 mm thinner than its precursors (at 8.5 mm).
It is an impressive accomplishment considering that the Reverso case is one of the watchmaking industry’s most complex to produce. It comprises more than 50 components, with almost 40 going towards its famed swivel mechanism.

For the pink-gold models, there are three sunray-brushed dials to choose from: classic black and silver, which have been varnished and polished to perfection; and ox-blood burgundy, with up to four hand-applied layers of coloured lacquer, followed by 20 layers of translucent lacquer for an unparalleled colour intensity.
The steel edition, which features a usual case size (45.6 mm x 27.4 mm x 8.5 mm), showcases a perennial silver opaline dial.
As with the rest of its Reverso Tribute brethren, these new timepieces feature dauphine-style hands and faceted hour markers. Enclosing all this is a railway minute track that runs along the dial’s periphery. The small seconds sub-dial (a feature that first appeared in the 1934 collection) is located at the six o’clock position, driven by Jaeger-LeCoultre’s manual-wind Calibre 822, a 108-component tonneau-shaped movement that offers 42 hours of power reserve.
All four watches are accompanied by interchangeable calfskin-and-canvas straps by Casa Fagliano, a renowned Argentinian polo boot maker that has partnered with Jaeger-LeCoultre since 2011. The pink-gold numbers, however, come with an additional Fagliano strap: calfskin for the burgundy and black editions, and an alligator strap for the silver – just so you are never left wanting, no matter the occasion.
