Omega debuts new watches for the adventure traveller
The Seamaster Aqua Terra Line introduces three versions, from a worldtimer to a sporty chronograph
OMEGA’S NEWEST WATCHES ARE TIMED just right for adventure travellers.
The three timepieces from the Swiss watch brand’s Seamaster Aqua Terra line comprise: a worldtimer in three versions that tracks all time zones on earth; an ultra-light sporty watch; and a chronograph that comes with a quick-change strap mechanism.
The Worldtimer
The usefulness of the worldtimer for travel is obvious – and the steadily growing demand for Omega’s Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer in recent years attests to its appeal to globetrotters. The new 43 mm model, in lightweight and corrosion-resistant titanium as well as stainless steel in two different styles, offers them more options in the collection.
Sporting ceramic bezels that are impervious to scratches, the three new worldtimer watches feature a unique worldtimer display of the earth at the centre of the dial, as seen from above the North Pole. Though invisible to the naked eye, the entire watchscape curves like the earth. The topography map, divided into day and night sections, is ringed by a 24-hour indication under Hesalite glass (a very resilient watch crystal).
Says Omega’s president and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann of the new worldtimer: “The dials are works of art, which prompt a sense of awe and adventure.”
Except for London, the 24 cities are displayed in yellow gold for the two steel models. London appears in red to highlight Greenwich Mean Time, now formally known as Universal Time Coordinated (UTC).

The titanium watch has a black-and-grey matte dial topped by a brushed black ceramic bezel. Also in black are the hands and indexes which take on a blue glow in the dark, thanks to the white Super-LumiNova coating. Completing the black-and-grey look, the watch is integrated with a strap in black structured rubber and grey stitching.
The new steel worldtimer comes with a matching steel bracelet and butterfly clasp, with integrated green rubber strap and grey stitching. The sun-brushed PVD dial is green and the hand and indexes are in 18k “moonshine” gold.
All three new Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer watches are powered by an Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer movement that has met the highest standards of precision laid down by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology. The watches are also water-resistant to 150 metres deep.
Ultra Light
The new Seamaster Aqua Terra Ultra Light also runs on a Master Chronometer movement, but one made of titanium – a first for Omega.
Strapped with a sporty fabric, the Seamaster Aqua Terra Ultra Light weighs just 55 grams. Its case, case-back and crown are fashioned from ultra-light Gamma Titanium – again a first for Omega. The unique material, used in the aeronautical industry because of its “very resistant” properties, is not only lighter but also harder than normal titanium.
Omega’s research and development team has also managed to trim the material used to create the dial, without compromising its visual impact.
Still another first for the brand is the Ultra Light’s telescopic crown, which can be stowed inside the case when not in use. This ergonomic feature cuts out disturbance to the hand’s movement.
The Seamaster Aqua Terra Ultra Light has a matte finish which prevents glare from the sun. The watch comes with a choice of bold red, green or blue aluminium seconds hand that can be matched with the same colour stitching on a rubber strap.
Chronograph
The new 44 mm stainless steel Omega Seamaster Diver 300M America’s Cup Chronograph is versatile enough for adventure sport or an easy holiday cruise.
Designed for comfort, the chronograph is also fitted with a quick-change strap mechanism that enables a change of strap at the press of a button. Those fussy about matching their timepieces with their outfits don’t have to pack multiple watches when travelling with the America’s Cup chronograph; just a few different watch straps will do.
Equipped with a Master Chronometer movement, the watch also has a Chrono Lock system that secures the chronograph functions when needed, especially when marking time on the water. The watch is water-resistant to a depth of 300 metres.
Strapped on the wrist, this chronograph adds a style to travelling that recalls the sporty glamour of the America’s Cup sailing race. It features a wave-pattern dial that has a “regatta countdown indicator ring” in red anodised aluminium. This features an hour disc under the sub-dial and a red anodised aluminium minute and rhodium-plated small seconds hand, modelled on the shape of a boat hull. The central seconds chronograph hand, also in red anodised aluminium, carries an America’s Cup on the counter-weight.
Engraved on the case-back in blue lacquer are the words “36th America’s Cup”, which the chronograph pays homage to, and “Auckland 2021”, where the race took place.
The Seamaster Diver 300M watch is presented in a special box in the blue-and-red colours of the America’s Cup. It is available with a metal bracelet and a rubber strap.
Price: S$15,450 (Worldtimer in rubber strap), S$15,750 (Worldtimer in steel bracelet), S$17,900 (Worldtimer in titanium); S$76,850 (Ultra Light); S$16,600 (America’s Cup chronograph)
