TAKE two children with similar backgrounds. Both kids are boys. They're raised in families with the same socio-economic status. They live in similar-looking neighbourhoods, and have the same access to education and health care.
The only difference is that one of the boys grows up in San Diego, where it's comfortably warm for most of the year, and the average high temperature is about 70 degrees. The other is in Marquette, Michigan, which is significantly colder. The average high temperature there is just 50 degrees.
