Wellness at your fingertips
Holistic wellness brand Como Shambhala launches its first app
IF THE run-up to Christmas, the New Year and Chinese New Year is leaving you stressed and with no time for self-care at any Como hotel or resort – not even even a trip to Como Shambhala Urban Escape at Delfi Orchard – fret not.
Como Shambhala, the award-winning wellness concept, has just launched its app, Como Shambhala Anywhere, which enables users to enjoy its services at their own convenience, no matter where they are.
Alexis Fosler, chief operating officer of Como Lifestyle, says: “Hotel guests at our property often tell us about their transformational experiences. This app is designed so they can continue to engage with the practitioners and pursue the practices they love, even after they return home.
“For those who are new to the unique Como experience, this app gives you access to our curated suite of wellness services anytime and anywhere in the world.”
Whether you are looking for a workout, a meditation session, or simply finding a better way to drift to sleep instead of counting sheep, you’ll find a suitable activity in the app. Activities are grouped not only under their purpose, but also under different time durations, from a short five-minute session to a one-hour-long one.
When it comes to exercises, activities that the app offers include yoga, Pilates and functional fitness. Meditation sessions require the user to find a space where they can be undisturbed.

But regardless of exercise or meditation sessions, most times, a yoga mat is all that is needed, making activities accessible to anyone.
The services are best experienced through “blends”, which are personalised programmes that consist of a list of guided videos customised to each individual’s preference.
This is augmented by sophisticated artificial intelligence that learns each user’s choices for a more refined overall experience.
For example, a 30-minute Endurance blend comprises a series of five videos in a playlist starting with a five-minute mat Pilates exercise, a five-minute backline and spinal mobility workout, a five-minute core workout, followed by a five-minute abs workout and finishing with a 10-minute back-bending workout.
While the exercises do not take into account the user’s level of experience, the videos are easy to follow. The exercises are performed by seasoned practitioners from Como Shambhala.
Many of the instructors have been with the brand for years, and returning guests who have taken sessions in person can now see them virtually and experience their guidance from the comfort of home.
There is also an online store in the app, where users can purchase items such as essential oils and bath products.
The Como Shambhala Anywhere app is free to download on iOS and Android, with an active paid subscription of US$19.99 a month.
