Get Fit The Right Way
Looking good isn't about bulging muscles and eating salads, say two budding fitness superstars
DOES THE COMMITMENT to be healthy mean giving up hawker fare and eating rabbit food for the rest of your life? Not if you're Vincent Lam, whose body fat percentage stands at a depressing (to the rest of us) single digit but is more likely to be chowing down on durians or economy rice than picking at a green salad.
Mr Lam, 41, is the director of Tech Fit Asia, a company that simplifies healthy living for busy folks. He wants to prove that "not all hawker food is unhealthy" if you're open to making a few modifications.
At an economy rice stall, he picks dishes that are cooked with less oil, such as cabbage, steamed fish, tofu and chicken. He skips the fried options and asks for less rice. If he has minced pork noodles, he skips the lard, and doesn't finish all the gravy in the noodles.
