The Whimsical Designer

FOR FRENCH ARTIST-DESIGNER Hubert Le Gall, age is just a number. He is 57 years old, but there's a preternatural youthfulness that runs through his works - think armchairs with a backrest shaped like bunny ears, floor lamps with dog-shaped stands, or a candelabra depicting a cheeky rabbit balancing on his top hat.

The self-taught designer was in Singapore recently for the opening of his first solo show in Asia, Welcome to My World, at Mazel Galerie at Pacific Plaza.

Born in Lyon, Mr Le Gall graduated in management before moving to Paris in 1983. Five years later, he turned to his first love - painting.
