LAUNCHED 16 years ago with pomp and fanfare, Iskandar Malaysia - the country's growth corridor at its southern tip - was once seen as one of the world's most ambitious development projects, perhaps even becoming a mini Shenzhen in South-east Asia.
It certainly wooed many a Singaporean to invest in property there, drawn by the prospect of an idyllic sprawling home in an economic zone just a drive across the Causeway. Little by little, though, Iskandar's prospects began to dim over the years, marred by over-zealous property building and governance issues.
But plans are now afoot to revive the vision and buzz of the project - this time, with drones and robotics playing starring roles. Brunch, in The Business Times Weekend, tracks the rise and revival of Iskandar.
