Women in the menswear business
BESPOKE tailoring has traditionally been a man’s world, but in Singapore, women have also made their mark. In this week’s BT Lifestyle, meet the leading ladies who are breaking the pattern in menswear.
We meet three of them who are stepping up to take the reins of their family tailoring businesses – CYC Tailor, Meiko Tailor and Joe’s Tailoring – and learn their stories about how they made their mark in the industry and are now taking their brands to the next level.
From heritage tailoring, we move to conservation as we visit the newly revamped Temasek Shophouse, a social impact hub housed in a row of historical buildings that still retain plenty of fascinating clues to their architectural past.
To complete our focus on things from the past, we head to Heritage Room by Pasir Panjang Boy – a pop-up eatery devoted to homespun Peranakan cooking at the Orchard Rendezvous Hotel.
Get a taste of all this and more in this week’s BT Lifestyle.
