In history, there have been benign women rulers who have changed lives for the better - but also those who did not. "Women rulers have been as capable as men of war and mass destruction - think Ranavalona, Mary Tudor and Catherine de Medici," says actress Jo Kukathas, who is set to play legendary Roman general Julius Caesar in Singapore Repertory Theatre's (SRT) production of Julius Caesar for its signature event Shakespeare In The Park.

Caesar lived from 100 BC to 44 BC. He rose to become the dictator of the Roman Republic, but was stabbed to death by several members of his Senate. In Shakespeare's play, the murder scene is brutally played out, stab by stab.
