NO film in Wong Kar Wai's extraordinary oeuvre haunts more than In The Mood Of Love. The 2000 film remains his magnum opus, a perfect distillation of style and sensuality, telling the story of unfulfilled love between two neighbours.

Twenty-one years after it was made, Wong is releasing never-seen-before footage of the film shot on its first day of production in 1999 - in the form of a non-fungible token (NFT), a digital work stored in blockchain.

The 90-second long NFT will be auctioned off on Oct 9 in Hong Kong as part of Sotheby's Modern Art Evening Sale. It is the first NFT created by Wong, as well as the first Asian film NFT to be offered by an international auction house.
