SUMMER movie season has barely begun but we are already suffering a bout of superhero fatigue. The dust has barely settled since the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight decided to go one-on-one just two months ago in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice; and it's only been weeks since The Avengers ensemble were brawling each other in Captain America: Civil War.

Entering the fray this week is X-Men: Apocalypse, the latest in the long-standing franchise which arguably kick-started the superhero summer movies.

Bryan Singer who wrote and directed the original in 2000 - and is hailed by fans and critics for making some of the best films in the series over the last 16 years - returns for this ninth instalment.
