Yayoi Kusama x Louis Vuitton makes a return
The luxury house expects the second collaboration to be another massive success

AT 93, Yayoi Kusama and her brand are still going strong. French luxury house Louis Vuitton is set to release its second major collaboration with the Japanese contemporary artist, decking out hundreds of products with Kusama’s characteristic dots and flowers, from bags and tailored suits to sneakers and even swimming trunks.
The pair last collaborated in 2012. The partnership was so commercially and critically successful, it became a benchmark against which other collaborations between artists and fashion houses are measured. In Louis Vuitton’s case, it has collaborated with other “superstartists” such as Jeff Koons, Richard Prince and Takashi Murakami – but the chic and distinctive Kusama-adorned bags remain among the most coveted by bagaholics.
Louis Vuitton has been dropping hints about the collaboration all the way since the spring of 2022, but will officially roll out the products on Jan 6, 2023 across its global stores. Besides the usual categories of womenswear, menswear, bags, shoes and accessories, Kusama’s designs have also been extended to a special edition of Louis Vuitton’s Spell On You perfume, complete with matching monogrammed canvas case.
