Zen and Jaan get top Michelin honours
49 restaurants take home Michelin stars in a sedate virtual event with some surprise winners

AFTER a frenzied week of speculation that major surprises were in store for the top awards at the Michelin Guide, the French dining arbiter stayed fairly true to type by promoting two produce-driven, Euro-centric restaurants to two and three star status in a virtual ceremony on Sept 1.
The fine-dining Nordic-inspired Zen became the third three star restaurant in Singapore, while the British flag-waving Jaan by Kirk Westaway was the only new entrant in the two star category in an event that gave chefs and restaurants battered by the pandemic a welcome boost of confidence.
