[SINGAPORE] Outstanding listed companies and business leaders were recognised for corporate governance achievements at the 20th Singapore Corporate Awards (SCA), co-organised by The Business Times, Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants and Singapore Institute of Directors.
Held on Sep 1 at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, this year’s SCA honoured 26 companies and six individuals.
For this special anniversary edition, the two-year moratorium on gold award winners was lifted.
Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs Edwin Tong was the guest of honour at the black-tie dinner, where he spoke on the importance of strong corporate governance.
DBS emerged the biggest winner among companies with above S$1 billion in market capitalisation.
The bank swept three gold awards for Best Managed Board, Best Risk Management and Best Annual Report. It also clinched the one-off Luminary Award, which recognised its sustained excellence, leadership, as well as its long-term impact in corporate governance and stakeholder value.

ComfortDelGro (CDG) was the strongest performer among mid-caps for the second consecutive year. Its subsidiary SBS Transit secured the gold award for Best Risk Management and Best Annual Report. SBS Transit and fellow CDG subsidiary Vicom were also joint silver winners in Best Investor Relations.
Qian Hu Corporation topped the small-cap category, collecting three awards, including gold for Best Annual Report. Tiong Woon Corporation and Samudera Shipping Line made their debuts, with both taking home honours.
In the real estate investment trust and business trusts segment, CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust clinched two gold awards for Best Investor Relations and Best Annual Report.
Individual accolades went to Helen Wong of OCBC (large-cap), Stephen Ho of Hong Leong Asia (mid-cap) and Julian Ng of Grand Venture Technology (small-cap), who were named Best Chief Executive Officers.
Best Chief Financial Officer awards were conferred to DBS’ Chng Sok Hui, ValueMax’s Carol Liew and Grand Venture Technology’s Robby Sucipto.
The SCA is supported by the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority and the Singapore Exchange, with Standard Chartered Bank as presenting sponsor.
