DESPITE pullouts by at least 16 exhibitors, cancellation of several associated conferences and scaling down of delegations, the Singapore Airshow 2020 will go ahead as planned next week.
Ten of the pullouts are from China and six from four other countries. They include aerospace companies Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, Textron Aviation and Bombardier. The South Korean air force's aerobatic team, the Black Eagles, has also withdrawn.
The large aviation companies like Airbus and Lockheed are still expected to attend, but with a reduced presence. But Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), which is developing the C919 narrow-body jet, will not be around this time. The days the show is open to the public could well see a sharp fall in numbers, compared to previous years' attendance figures.
