SINGAPORE leads the world as a digital society, and the proof can be seen everywhere, from our wide adoption of smartphones and wireless Internet connectivity to the digital tools senior citizens use to manage their health. A recent global study by Google shows that Singapore is now the number one smartphone adopter in the world at 85 per cent, even outdoing South Korea at 80 per cent.
According to the Digital Evolution Index developed by MasterCard and The Fletcher School at Tufts University, Singapore is one of only three countries in the world that are most ready to meet the challenges and opportunities of the digital future, with infrastructure and policies successfully in place.
The challenge for Singapore is to continue to fast-track digital innovation and have the business leaders with the skills and savvy to pull together all the data that is being generated in a way that helps their companies remain competitive in this digital age.
