Cool Washington reception for China's Xi

The recent cyber-security attacks by suspected Chinese hackers on the US has raised questions of why the Obama administration is welcoming President Xi

SO THIS is what the Republican Party's Grand Strategy amounts to: #CancelChinesePresidentStateDinner

Well, no one in the GOP is actually using this hashtag, but if you watched or listened to the televised debate among the (many) Republican presidential candidates last Wednesday, it seems that the proposal to cancel Chinese President Xi Jinping's state dinner, scheduled to take place at the White House on Friday, is the most serious foreign policy idea that GOP leaders have been promoting these days.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker said during the CNN Republican presidential debate that President Barack Obama should cancel an upcoming state dinner for President Xi in retaliation for the recent cyber-security attacks by suspected Chinese hackers on the United States. The Chinese government denied any role in the attacks on US government and businesses, and claimed that it was the victim of similar attacks.
