THE Jeremy Corbyn phenomenon in Britain has excited much attention (almost as much as the advent of Donald Trump in the United States) and one has to wonder why, if the new UK Labour Party leader is the "disaster" often portrayed, he is taken so seriously.
Why is he not dismissed as an aberration that will be corrected and forgotten as soon as the novelty value wears off, as was supposed to happen in the case of Donald Trump as a candidate for election as the next US president?
Could it be that Mr Corbyn's selection by a big majority of Labour Party members has struck a deeper chord or touched a more sensitive nerve than many people (including media commentators) are prepared to admit?
