Cyber attacks of late underline need to remain ever vigilant
THE cyber attack on the UK-based Tesco Bank over the weekend highlights once again the need to be vigilant while online.
As Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said at the recent GovWare conference, everybody needs to practise good cyber hygiene. Only then will Singapore's digital network remain safe. One cannot depend on just the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore to keep Singapore's digital space safe.
Over the weekend, Tesco Bank, owned by Britain's biggest supermarket chain Tesco, had the accounts of around 20,000 of its customers compromised with money stolen from them. Earlier in October, in another high profile incident, 3.25 million debit cards were compromised in India and money stolen from accounts across several banks.
