NOT SO long ago in the United States of America at around this time, yours truly and my fellow journalists in Washington, DC, would explain to our editors that August is a very slow period for news and that they should not expect to get too many stories from us. Yep! Those were the dog days of summer.
The President would be out of town, Capitol Hill would be empty and almost everyone would be on vacation. Bye, Bye, Washington. See you back in the fall!
