"Between Debt and the Devil: Money, Credit, and Fixing Global Finance" By Adair Turner Princeton University Press (2015)
Review by Yoong Ren Yan Rating : A
THE most disarming critiques of orthodoxy often come from within. In Lord Adair Turner's case, that subversion of orthodoxy applies twofold. A former banker and chief of the UK's Financial Services Authority, Lord Turner is part of a movement that reckons with prevailing economics orthodoxy, and finds it wanting. As an establishment figure seeking a post-crisis economics, he is by no means alone. But as the most prominent proponent of "helicopter money" - that central banks should print money to fund government deficits - he is a heretic among heretics.
