Europe's silent night

1 What do you think was the most remarkable thing that happened this week?

There is grieving in Europe this Christmas. On Monday evening, European time, a man in Berlin drove a truck into a Christmas market, killing 12 people and injuring another 48. The same night, Russia's ambassador to Turkey, Andrei Karlov, was assassinated by a gunman at an art exhibition in Ankara.

Anis Amri, a Tunisian man, is believed to have been the man behind the wheel in Berlin. He was killed in a shoot-out with police in Milan on Friday, after German police first arrested a Pakistani man now believed to have been wrongly implicated. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack, although no evidence has been provided to support that claim.
