Fed rate hike: no surprise can be a good thing

1. What do you think was the most significant event that took place this week?

Most of the big news this week came from the United States. President Donald Trump's decision last week to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital (and hence to move the US embassy there from Tel Aviv, or so he declared) continued to reverberate around the world all of this week.

As some see it, in so doing Mr Trump has effectively ignored Palestinian claims on the city. His announcement has drawn widespread alarm and derision, at least reservations, from most quarters, with the exception of course of the Israelis.
