BY NOW we have all heard the challenge: the world's population is set to reach more than 9 billion people by 2050, how will we feed this growing population? The status quo surely won't cut it.
Our current food production, distribution and consumption practices are inefficient and wasteful. They are ill-equipped to deal with the challenges of today, let alone the future.
We urgently need new solutions to ensure that everyone in the world has access to adequate, safe and nutritious food, and we don't have time to wait for traditional institutions to provide the answers.
