Great Rejuvenation - the silver lining behind the Great Resignation?
AS THE bonus season rolls around and the impending new year prompts thoughts of new beginnings, the so-called Great Resignation may make itself increasingly felt in Singapore. But depending on how one interprets its causes and potential consequences, there may not necessarily be reason for too much concern.
The phenomenon of workers quitting at elevated rates has prompted soul-searching and hand-wringing among employers across the world. But unlike countries such as the United States, national-level statistics on job churn in Singapore have yet to show evidence of significantly increased resignations amid the pandemic.
Nonetheless, surveys have found that a significant share of respondents here are at least thinking about changing jobs. Career coaches, too, have reported seeing more clients who are currently employed but seek a more fulfilling career.
