Higher productivity - sea change needed in education system

I would like to commend Fraser Thompson for his excellent article, "Singapore's productivity imperative: The three missing pieces", BT June 9, 2015. I agree with his points and rationale, but would like to add a fourth missing ingredient: education.

The issue that I see as a business owner and investor here in Singapore is that high maths and science scores (for which Singapore is well-known and well-regarded) do not equate to high creativity or effective problem-solving skills.

At the core of productivity gain is being creative with how you can do more with less; inherently, to learn how to do more with less, you need excellent problem-solving ability.
