THE Internet of Things (IoT) and Industry 4.0 continue to stir up considerable excitement among manufacturers in Asia, as they deliberate over its potential to revolutionise industrial performance and efficiency while reducing costs.
At Bosch, we expect that there will be more than 14 billion "things" connected to the Internet by 2022. Despite the IoT innovation we continue to see across smart cities and wearables, it is arguable that it is the industrial application of this technology where we are most likely to see the greatest developments.
This not only results from the competitive nature of this industry, with manufacturers vying for dominance across the region, but also has to do with the high level of accountability which underpins the implementation of technology in this sector.
