It's all about Obama

UNLIKE her husband President Barack Obama who receives unfavourable ratings among American voters (Gallup's recent daily tracking poll puts his job approval rating at 41 per cent), First Lady Michelle Obama remains one of America's most popular public figures.

So you would expect to see Mrs Obama campaigning now for many of the Democratic lawmakers who are fighting for their seats in the election campaign leading to the midterm elections next month. After all, unless some dramatic changes take place in the last month of the campaign, indications are that the Democrats would probably lose their current slim majority in the Senate, ensuring that the Republicans would control both the Senate and the House of the Representatives in the next Congress.

So won't it make sense for embattled Democratic lawmakers to ask the first lady to campaign on their behalf?
