Low-tech employees should cheer the next stage of automation

TIME and again Singaporeans have been urged not to worry about robots and machines replacing humans and told that we need to better understand technology so as to be able to work well with machines.

Any anxiety around the role of automation in the economy is understandable, particularly during a time of higher unemployment in Singapore.

Singaporeans are living longer, and many will need more support from the government in their golden years. Coupled with a declining birth rate, the result is mounting pressure on the working population and businesses to increase productivity. This has driven a lot of automation here, manifested in companies' efforts at digital transformation.
