More companies should set up excos, offer employees a chance to give input to boards

EARLY this year, the board of Centurion Corporation made a move that could be considered notable for a company of its size. The operator of student and worker accommodation facilities set up an executive committee to assist its board with its oversight responsibilities.
Its terms of reference stated that the committee has the authority to invite any employee or any other individuals, including external professionals, to attend meetings of the committee, helmed by the joint chairman of the board David Loh Kim Kang.
It also said the committee is allowed to seek any information it requires from any employee in order to perform its duties, and will have access to all relevant records.
