More resources and commitment are the keys to fighting the haze

It seems like an annual tradition to have a debate about the haze and to be told that there is no simple solution to the regional scourge.

It is time for those who have contributed to the haze - and there are many - to own up, and to stop using complexity as an excuse for inaction.

Complexity is one of the most over-used concepts when it comes to discussing the haze. Indonesian President Joko Widodo told the BBC in September that it would take three years to tackle the haze, because it was "not a problem that you can solve quickly".
