Overseas travel is out, why not spend at home?
COUNTRIES are looking to domestic travellers to salvage their tourism industries which have been devastated by the Covid-19 pandemic, but Singapore's tiny size may make this a harder sell on the accommodation front in particular.
The Singapore Tourism Board is putting S$45 million towards the nine-month SingapoRediscovers campaign, with promotions for dining, retail, attractions, tours and hotel stays.
Despite common local laments about there being nothing to do in this city-state, hitherto healthy international visitor figures suggest otherwise. In recent months, as the prospect of overseas travel remains firmly off the table, even lesser-known local sights have been spotlighted by lifestyle media.
