Perfectly reasonable to shun stuff we don't understand

INVESTING in the stock market actually requires a lot of due diligence and research if the investor wants to make an informed and income-generating decision ("Cromwell's shelved IPO reflects market's preference for simpler fare", BT, Oct 2)

Simply because the majority of Singaporeans who invest in the bourse lose money, the conclusion is that most of these hapless investors have had the derring-do but not the expertise to be sentient share investors.

I decided - after losing a Midas amount of money on sexy shares that allured with promises of multiples of return on capital and dazzled with the gilded potential of future riches - that the stock market is beyond the ken of the average Singaporean, who is so much like an ingenue taken for a ride before being led to the slaughter house.
