PM Abe presses on with his dream of a peaceful alliance
His "Security Diamond" - namely the US, India, Japan and Australia - is meant to balance China's power.
JAPANESE Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's dream of a "Security Diamond" - a group consisting of the major Asian democracies - is coming true after having been shattered twice before.
A quadrilateral alliance - a "diamond" whose four sides are the United States, India, Japan and Australia - has committed to escalate its cooperation in order to balance China's aggressive military expansion in the region under President Xi Jinping through closer military and strategic linkages.
But beyond that, one of the partners, the US, is also aiming to create an alternative model of economic development and financing to counter Chinese financial hegemony over the smaller countries in Asia and Africa.
