A large part of the North-South Line was shut down for almost a day on Oct 7 because of flooding in the train tunnel and a small fire near one portion of the tracks. A photograph of a train stuck in the flood, with water up to its undercarriage, has become emblemetic of the MRT system's persistent disruption problems.
