For once it looks like two major powers - the EU and the US - are investing heavily in the fight against global warming.
THE world is in the grip of bad news, after being ravaged by the Covid-19 pandemic and the ensuing economic recession. Maybe the time has come to look for some good news? In fact, there is some genuinely good news from the environmental front.
For once it looks like two major powers are investing heavily in the fight against global warming.
The European Union (EU) has been at the forefront of this battle for some time and a couple of years ago did set ambitious targets for carbon dioxide emissions 2030. It has been one of the most active partners in the Paris agreement from 2016 trying to shape a global framework for policies to reduce global warming. Unfortunately, the Trump administration took the United States out of this agreement rendering it much less potent.
